Petroleum(Dilution)

Trituration and tincture of the rectified oil is used as a medicine.

This is a highly carbonaceous oil but it is not a pure carbon

Causes & Symptoms for Petroleum

• Eczema, forming thick scabs and oozing pus indicates Petroleum. 
• sprains of joints, especially in old, when the knees are stiff, associated with sharp sticking pains, cracking sound is relieved.
• Scabs and purulent mucus are discharged from the nasal cavities
• Deep cracks and fissures which bleed and suppurate.
• Rhagades, particularly when they occur in winter, when the hands chap, crack and burn, and itch intolerably indicates Petroleum.
• Diseases of the skin and subcutaneous tissue, depressed nutrition, anaemia, dyspepsia, nerve troubles, irritability, insomnia, respiratory affections.

Mind and Head

Mental weakness and forgetfulness, Frequent tear with Uneasiness respecting the future. Every mental exertion causes him to become quite stupid.

Falling out of the hair is a characteristic symptom of Petroleum.

Headache with heaviness like lead, pressure, sticking, pulsating, worse on shaking head, when stooping.

The vertigo and heaviness associated with nausea and bilious vomiting.

Eyes, ear, nose

Inflammation of eyes with shooting, and burning pain in eyes. Itching of lids, eyes is relieved with this remedy.

Dryness, and distressing sensation or dryness, in interior of ear. Redness, excoriation, and oozing behind ears. Discharge of blood and pus from ears is relieved with petroleum.

Dryness, and distressing sensation of dryness, in nose. Petroleum is useful in Ulcerated nostrils, scabs, purulent mucus, cracked nostrils.Coryza with hoarseness.

Tinkling, rolling, roaring, ringing, rumbling, cracking, and buzzing in ears.

Mouth and Throat

Dryness and constriction of skin of face and eyelids is relieved with Petroelum.

Eruption of pimples on face, Fistulous vesicles in gums, Swelling of sub-maxillary glands, shooting pain on being touched.

Painful soreness on chewing with great dryness of mouth. 

Swelling and great dryness of throat, dryness and burning in pharynx. Hawking up of mucus in morning.

Stomach and abdomen

Cramps in stomach, Weak digestion, sensation of fullness in epigastrium, frequent nausea, especially in morning is relieved with Petroleum.

Aching of stomach. Sensation of coldness in abdomen with cutting pain in the abdomen.

Colic better from bending double, distension and tension in abdomen, with cramp.

Nausea and vertigo with vomiting of bile, worse from riding in a carriage. 

Stool and Anus

The stools are offensive and watery, and often contain undigested food with disordered stomach made worse by the use of cabbage.

Burning pain in rectum after evacuation. Piles with great itching, worse at night from heat of bed, worse from rubbing or scratching.

Urinary complaints

Emission of urine at night, Burning in urethra, constant dribbling of urine after micturition is resolved with Petroleum.

Urine contains albumen, red sediment.Frequent emission of urine, with scanty stream.

Male complaints

Burning pain, itching, redness, excoriation and oozing, itching pimples on the scrotum and between scrotum and thigh.

Weakness and nervous irritability after coition indicates Petroleum.

Female complaints

Itching of the nipples, soreness, and moisture on external parts.

Throbbing pain in head before menses, is relieved with Petroleum.

Neck and Back

Swelling of glands and eruption on nape of neck is relieved with Petroleum.

Stiffness in coccyx with weakness and stiffness in back and loins marks this remedy. Painful drawing extending from nape to occiput.

Suppuration of the axillary glands is relieved with Petroleum.

Extremities

Cracking of joints, with arthritic rigidity and drawing, tearing pains. Drawing pains in limbs.

Swelling and redness of heel with burning pain and shootings worse on walking.

Ulcers on the toes, originating in blisters on the toes.

Burning sensation in palms of hands is relieved with Petroleum.

Skin

Eruption that has disappeared without improvement in health is relieved with petroleum.

Brown and yellow spots on skin are resolved with petroleum. Corns on feet.

Skin unhealthy, every injury tends to ulceration. Ulcers with shooting pains, with raised edges.

Generalities

Cold feeling about the heart region, dry cough and oppression of chest worse, cold air.

Sensation of heaviness, anxiety, and uneasiness in chest. Swelling and induration of glands, also after a contusion.

Stiffness and tendency to numbness of limbs.

Emaciation, also in children weakness, nausea and other suffering is relieved with Petroleum.

Side effects of  Petroleum

There are no such side effects. But every medicine should be taken following the rules as given. 

It is safe to take the medicine even if you are on other mode of medication like allopathy medicines, ayurvedic etc. 

Homeopathic medicines never interfere with the action of other medicines.

Dosage and rules while taking Petroleum

Take 5 drops in half cup of water three times a day.

You can also medicate the globules and take 3 times a day or as prescribed by the physician.

We recommend you to take under physicians guidance.

Precautions while taking Petroleum

Always keep a gap of 15 minutes before or after meals when you take medicine.

If pregnant or breastfeeding, ask a homeopathic practitioner before use. 

Avoid eating tobacco or drinking alcohol during the course of medication.
